Cards

I am calling for addresses for Holiday/Christmas Cards. (I should have done this before Halloween, since I want to have them mailed out by 24 November.)

If we have exchanged cards before, and your address is the same, you will be getting a card from me. If your address has changed, well this is where to leave your address, as it will be locked (same as my previous Card Posts.)

For the record, I am so not ready for Christmas… How is 2017 almost over?!?!

30.) A song that 'Reminds you of yourself'.

Meredith Brooks - Bitch

Because I think this song fits every woman. I am not going to write to the last song, simply because I am now working on my Kinktober List.

R.I.P. Tom Petty

Yesterday, it fucking sucked. Vegas shooting, 59 dead, 500 injured. The coward shot and killed himself rather than face the consequences of his action.

Then to top off a bad day, Tom Petty died of a heart attack. Actually it went, he died, no he didn't, and then, yes, he did.

My heart goes out to the families of the injured and dead, and to Tom's family.

29.) A song that you 'Remember from your childhood'.

One Way or Another - Blondie

The thing I remember first is listening to this and watching my Aunt chase her wife. (Yes, this was in the 80s.) I also remember a very sassy black gay man muttering the lyrics whenever certain men walked by. I live in a small Texas town, I cannot remember hearing any homophobic speech.

I have lived an interesting life.

28.) A song by an 'Artist with a voice you love'.

LINKIN PARK - Breaking the Habit - (Acoustic cover) by Jonathan Young

I fell in love with his voice when he did a Duet with Melinda Kathleen Reese (who I also love). Most of his songs are covers, but that does not make his voice any less awesome. Do I like all his music? No. There is no flawless artist. Elvis, Beetles, Queen, Aerosmith, and others all have songs that are not well liked; and that is okay.

I will admit that I had a tough time choosing a song from him, as I love his version of Shiny, Hellfire, Misty Mountain, and so many of his other songs/covers.

24.) A song by a band you 'Wish were still together'.

You know, I don’t do things like wishing XYZ were still together. They had their reasons, which are none of my business, and I will respect that. SO, I will simply do 'A Song By a Band/Group that are no longer together.'

Little Darlin - The Diamonds

If this video had come out in this day and age… this band would be slashed, simply for shits and giggles. Though, there may have been a fangirl laying on her bad, feet kicking back and forth, as she listened to the song and wrote a story about them in her diary. A story we will never know.

Oomph! ~ Beim ersten Mal tut's immer weh! ~

I know a lot of people have listened to Rammstein, but Oomph! Came first and rock it better.

WARNING: VIDEO IS VIOLENT!

I still love the song, band, and video. The overall message made me smile and have the warm fuzzies all over… yes, violence can make you happy under the right circumstances.

22.) A song that 'Moves you forward'.

Moves you forward, for me, means makes you get up and move. Not necessarily dancing, but maybe it would put a bounce in your step as you are doing whatever it is you have to do.

I was torn between Andrews Sisters - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (Which I do enjoy), Shakira - Hips Don’t Lie, and Christina Aguilera - Candyman. I went with the later for the beat. So, my song choice today is:

Christina Aguilera - Candyman

21.) A favorite song that 'Has a person's name in the title'.

You Don't Mess Around with Jim - Jim Croce

I shuffled through several songs, checking the lyrics and seeing if any would tickle a muse. Last Dance with Mary Jane had a serial killer muse lurking, Janie's Got a Gun was out as I had used Aerosmith before this month. Jack and Diane lured nothing out. Same for a Boy Named Sue.

This one had Jim jumping, especially when he heard McCoy's name in there. Yes, I am talking about my muses as if they are real people, because a lot of the time, they feel real.

30 Day Song Meme:

20.) A song that has 'Meanings to you'.

Don't try Suicide - Queen

I found this song when I was around 11 or 12 and it helped pull me from the edge several times. The one time I did not have this song to listen to and I was feeling suicidal, I was 13. I took over 200 ibuprofen (Advil, Nurofen).

A co-worker saw me take the pills, he dragged me over to the ditch, bent me over the wooden fence, and shoved his finger down my throat until I puked. He hugged me after slapping me across the back of my head.

Of course, I can no longer take the medicine as my body now sees it as an attack. One pill and my throat closes and I can no longer breathe.

That was not my last suicide attempt, but I always tried to have this song to remind me to be strong and to remember that there was someone there. We need to pass that on. People who cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel need to know, that there are people who cared them in the past and people who care today.

(Though my recent suicide attempt was not brought on by depression, but rather being tired of being in constant pain. Pain is not an excuse for medical marijuana in my area. I would have to let my husband trigger my epilepsy to qualify. I am fucked either way.)

Anyway, suicide, not matter how tempting is not without casualties. Everyone you leave behind feels a hole in their very fabric, and even if you don’t want them to, they think about following. If you are feeling down, depressed, suicidal, reach out. Be it to a friend, family, or Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Don't be afraid, let someone help you.

Making History - Dean Fujioka

This was coming. I mean, can anyone hate this? For real, if you have not seen this, why not? You can find all 12 Episodes on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and a few episodes on Youtube. I CANNOT say that the dubbed is good, because I am a purist and only watch my Anime subtitled.

18.) A song from the 'Year you were born'.

Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees

Most of the music released in my birth year was Disco. *blink* I am not a disco fan, not really. I prefer Rock and some Rap. I was tempted to go with Queen, but I am trying to use a different band/artist every day and… yeah, they have a song that I want to use on a different day.

This is the one Disco song I find enjoyable. Even though it makes me think of Zombies. Zombies irritate me, much like clowns. However, I can see Dean mutter singing this during a difficult hunt. Or maybe Kirk in the Neutral Zone. (My mind, it is just that fucked up.)

[personal profile] alisanne tagged me on the meme: ten favorite characters from ten different fandoms. I can do this and go a wee further explaining why… or at least try to.

1.) Stiles Stilinski - Teen Wolf - Caring, Intelligent, loyal, and even though he is only human, he will stand up to any baddie that he is confronted with. True, he might face it with a Molotov cocktail, but he is only human (most of the time.)

Sung by: Jared Halley and Malinda Kathleen Reese

Not a 'traditional' duet, but I love MKR's voice and it meshes well with Jared Haley. Yes, this is a YouTube creators' mashup. I am not usually a fan of Acapella, but damn.

16.) One of your 'Favorite Classical songs'.

Chopin - Spring Waltz (Mariage d'Amour)

This was difficult as I do love Classical Music (I am an Audiophile and have no shame.) But I was torn between this, Mozart - Lacrimosa, Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata, or Tchaikovsky - Sleeping Beauty Waltz

I know, all are way overused and cliché, but I still enjoy them.
